Early Life 

Diganta Barman, son of Dr. Bhumidhar Barman (four-time MLA and former Education Minister of Assam), was born on November 26, 1964. He is a resident of Mulakmua, a village in the district of Nalbari, Assam. He is married to Kasturi Bharali Barman. He is aged 52 years.

Education

He is a Bachelor of Arts from Gauhati University in the year 1987. 

Career and Politics

Diganta Barman was INC's candidate for the 2016 Assam Assembly elections from Barkhetry where he put up a close fight against BJP's Narayan Deka with 60,610 votes compared to Deka's 69,223 votes. 

He will again fight the 2021 Assam Assembly election from the Barkhetry constituency on a Congress ticket.

According to the nomination filed with the Election Commission of India, his and his spouse's moveable assets are worth Rs. 1.03 crore and Rs. 66.80 lakhs and their immovable assets are worth Rs. 2.67 crores and Rs. 1.24 crores respectively.
