Two girls drown in the Brahmaputra in Sivasagar

Joysagar: In an accident that took place on Sunday in Desang Aphala gaon under Desangmukh PS of Sivasagar district, two girls drowned in the Brahmaputra. Sources said that there was a marriage function in the house of the girls and they reportedly went to the river for freshen up. Suddenly one of them, Arati Chetri (21) fell in the water and when her sister Anjali Chetri (19) tried to rescue her, she too fell into the water. Villagers called the police and SDRF personnel. Rescue operation was started but till filing of this report, the bodies of the girls had not been recovered.
