DOOMDOOMA: The much-needed girls’ common room in Dangri HS School was inaugurated by Dr Manju Chakraborty, one of the directors of Shadashiv Tea Company, amidst much fanfare.

Inaugurating the room, Dr Chakraborty said that Nandeswar Chakraborty, who was one of the founders of the Shadashiv Tea Company, donated four rooms to the school way back in 1934. She lamented that although they had a plan to hand over the room on a befitting occasion, yet that did not materialize due to some unavoidable circumstances. Principal Puspa Bahadur Chetri thanked profusely donor Shadashiv Tea Company and its director Dr Chakraborty for their magnanimity.

The programme began with a ‘Mira Bhajan’ beautifully rendered by teacher Runumi Dutta Bhuyan. A book titled Bibidh - a collection of essays - by Sarat Chiring Phukan, subject teacher and a recipient of the State competent teachers’ award, was unveiled by former Principal and noted poet Sarifa Khatun Chaudhury.
