Guwahati: Residents Of Chandmari Rudranagar Area Asks CM For Motorable Roads

GUWAHATI : Residents of Chandmari Rudranagar, has appealed to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to construct a motorable road in the area. These are the residents of ward 35 that is under Gauhati East constituency. 

The government currently is carrying out a 'fortnight for development' programme in Assam, to work on the grievances of people. The people have requested Himanta Biswa Sarma to provide them with a basic motorable road as they face a lot of issues in the time of crisis. 

 Patients still has to walk down the narrow road or have to be carried physically to a health centre. Fire tenders fail to reach the desired or affected spot because of lack of road connectivity. Chandmari Rudranagar is 2 km north of the Assam Engineering Institute. The area is not developed even after 75 years of Independence. Children often face difficulties during monsoon while going to schools and institutions. They have to walk through water and mud during rainy season. 

Apart from that, elderly people have no space to walk around freely. A resident of the area, Dulal Chandra Bania stated that, despite the fact that the area falls under the most reputable assembly constituencies, the government has failed to provide the bare minimum necessities in the area. They still lack a motorable road in this era.

Bania further informed that several memorandums and appeals have been made in the past years regarding the construction of a new road, but the government did not take any action against it. This is a result of the negligence of local MLA's and successive government as a well.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma visited a few districts this week and ensured development in those areas. This move is commendable, stated the Rudranagar resident.

More than 1000 people from the Rudranagar and Amiyanagar areas in Chandmari have submitted several memorandum to MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya, regarding the issues they face because of non-motorable roads. There is no improvement besides several verbal assurance, claims the residents.
