DIBRUGARH: Assam Tea Labourers' Union (ATLU) has cautioned the concerned department as well as the management of Mokal Bari Tea Estate to solve the various problems of the tea estate by 2021, failing which ATLU will be left with no other option than to intensify agitation from January 2022. ATLU general secretary, Israel Nanda, in a press communique, alleged that the lack of basic amenities in the tea estate has made the life of the tea labourers in the tea estate more miserable.

"There is no doctor in the hospital for the last one year besides scarcity of adequate medicine in the tea estate's hospital has deteriorated the health of the labourers, Nanda stated. "The Labour department in Dibrugarh has failed to monitor the situation in the tea estate," ATLU General Secretary said.

Elaborating his claim Nanda further stated that the management deprived the labourers of various facilities including drinking water facility besides repairing the dilapidated labour quarters and frequent transfer of managers of the tea estate.

Nanda has called upon the labour department to take immediate steps in solving the problems of Mokalbari tea estates and help in maintaining peace and tranquillity.
