Mizoram: CM Zoramthanga Invites People To Come, 'Breathe Clean Air'

AIZAWL: Just as several Indian cities including the national capital are struggling with hazards of air pollution, the Chief Minister of Mizoram has come up with a worthy suggestion for the people in other states of the country.

CM Zoramthanga has invited people from elsewhere in India to come to Mizoram for breathing clean air and enjoying natural beauty of his state.

The Mizoram CM made this appeal while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 10th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the Northeastern region here on Thursday. He also appealed to the people to visit his state that has been advocating for sustainable and responsible tourism.

On a lighter note, CM Zoramthanga said that tourists on their visit to the state can also enjoy the clean air without any cost.

While referring to pollution of air and other means that many Indian cities are battling with, the Mizoram CM said, "Mizoram is endowed with picturesque scenic beauty with mountains, waterfalls, and scenic locations which offer majestic views of floating clouds."

It may be mentioned here that residents in Delhi and in the National Capital Region are battling with rising air pollution levels for the past several months which got further worsened after the Diwali celebrations in later part of October this year. The Air Quality Index (AQI) dipped to 'very severe' with concerned authorities imposing restrictions to tackle the situation.

On the other hand, Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram is well known for its favourable AQI which falls in the 'good' category. It is a visual treat for tourists visiting the city and the state which exhibits tranquility and is away from the hustle and bustle of mega cities.

In his address at the Inauguration Ceremony of the 10th International Tourism Mart, CM Zoramthanga extended invitations to tourists to visit the state and 'enjoy the beautiful unpolluted atmosphere of Mizoram'.
