Early Life:

Atul Bora is a well-known politician in the State of Assam and he is the son of Shri Mehuram Bora and Smti. Punya Probha Bora. He was born on 7th April, 1960, in Borahi Gaon, Golaghat, Assam. He is married to Bulbuli Baruah and they have one daughter, who is studying in Delhi. In the past, he did bodybuilding and weightlifting as well. He likes working in the paddy fields.

Education: Atul Bora completed his M.A in Political Science from Gauhati University in 1983. He also did his LLB (Bachelor's of Law) from Gauhati University in the year 1993. He practised law before assuming the responsible positions in the AGP party.

Career & Politics:

Atul Bora is the Agriculture and Veterinary minister of Assam and the sitting MLA from Bokakhat. He was the organizing and general secretary of All Assam Students Union (AASU), later he also became the president of AASU.

He was the Founder Chairman of the North-East Students' Co-ordination Committee. In the year 1995, he formally joined active politics as an Asom Gana Parishad worker. He has held various responsible posts in AGP. He was the District President, Joint Secretary, General Secretary of the Central Committee. In 2011 he became the working president of the party and in 2014 he assumed the charge as the president of the party.

He was elected as the MLA from his home constituency Golaghat in 1996 on an AGP ticket.

His assets are worth over Rs 93.67 lakhs.

There is a pending case against him. Charge-sheet has not been filed yet. The case against him is for a criminal breach of trust by a public servant. The case is filed under Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
