Early Life:

He is a two-time MLA from Assam (2006 and 2011). He was born on 30th October 1970 in Adarshagoan, Pohumora, Lakhimpur (Assam). His father's name is Bogiram Borah, and his mother's name is Pratima Borah. He got married in the year 2001 to MousumiBorgohain Borah. They have two sons.

Education:

He has a Masters in Arts (1998) in Political science from Dibrugarh University.

Career and Politics:

Borah has been highly active in politics right from college. In 1989, he was a Vice – President of the North Lakhimpur College Students Union. He then became the General Secretary of Dibrugarh UniversityPostgraduate Students Union.

After completing his Masters in Political Science, he became a full-time youth Congress activist. He later became President of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress. In 1998 he became the Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). Three years later he was elevated to the post of Secretary.

As the General Secretary of APCC, he played a vital role in consolidating the Congress party's position in the state. In the Assam government, Borah had served as Parliamentary Secretary in charge of Power and Home. He was also a spokesperson for the Congress-led Assam government.

Borah was first elected as an MLA from Bihpuria Constituency in 2006. In 2014 he unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha Polls from Tezpur seat. He is contesting the 2021 Assam Assembly Election from Bihpuria Constituency against Dr AmiyoBhuyan of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
