Early Life:

HemantaKalita is a resident of Choladhara in Jorhat district of Assam. He is Indian National Congress politician from Assam. He is the son of Late NirenKalita. His age is about 59years.

Education:

He has passed Pre Degree(Higher Secondary) from Dibrugarh University in the year 1976.

Career and Politics:

HemantaKalita was earlier in the Asom Gana Parishad party. He first got his ticket in the year 1996 as an AGP candidate from the Titabar constituency and won the battle against Kula Das from the Communist Party of India.

He contested the Assam Assembly election 2001 again from the Titabar constituency and was defeated by Dip Gogoi of the Indian National Congress party.

In 2011, HemantaKalita contested from Teok constituency and lost the battle against MembarGogoi from INC party.

Following that, he resigned from AGP and joined BJP.

This time he is contesting the elections from Titabar on an AGP ticket.
