Early life:

Haripriya is a resident of Srinagar, Guwahati in Kamrup district of Assam. She was born in the year 1979 to Late Jiten Chakravarty and Bijoya Chakravarty, former two-time BJP MP (1999 and 2009). She was also the Union Minister for Water Resources in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government (1999-2004).

Education:

Suman Haripriya is an MA in Sociology from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi 1991 batch and has a Diploma in Film and Television from Asian Academy of Film and Television, Noida and Jyotish Acharya (Vidya) from New Delhi's Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Career and Politics:

Haripriya is a film director-turned politician. Some of her films include 'Koina Mur Dhunia', 'Kokadeutar Garjonwai' and 'Kadamtole Krishna Nache'. She is the sitting BJP M.L.A from the Hajo constituency in the 14th Assam Assembly. She is contesting the 2021 Assam Assembly Election for a second time from Hajo constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.

According to the nomination filed with the Election Commission of India, her total movable assets are worth Rs.76.77 lakhs and her total immovable assets have a market value of Rs 2.50 crore.

She was in the news when she said that cow dung and urine can be a cure for COVID-19.
