Biswanath is a district of Assam. It was formed in the year 2015. The administrative headquarter is located at Biswanath Chariali. The name of the Sub-Divisions is Biswanath Chariali and Gohpur. Some of the key attractions of Biswanath include Biswanath Ghath which is located near Biswanath Chariali town. Located on the banks of Brahmaputra river, the place is named after the ancient Biswanath Temple, also popularly known as "Gupta Kashi".

The Ghat consists of temples of different Gods. There is also an island that is near the Biswanath Ghat which is known as the Island of Uma Tumoni.

Biswanath is one of the 9 assembly segments of Tezpur Parliament Seat which is located in Sonitpur district. It is only a General category assembly seat. It is none for SC and ST.

The district headquarter is located in Biswanath Chariali.

In the 2016 Assembly Election, BJP candidate Pramod Borthakur won the Assembly seat, with a total of 64,225 votes and became MLA, whereas INC candidate Nurjamal Sarkar was the runner-up with a total of 54,105 votes.

Work done in the last five years :

MLA Promod Borthakur laid the foundation stone of the Garbha Griha of Bishnu Mandir. He has donated nearly Rs 10 lakh for the renovation of the temple under the scheme called Asam Darshan Scheme. He has also improved the basic infrastructure of the area falling under his constituency besides focusing on other developmental work.
