In the 2001 Assembly Election, a candidate Idris Ali of INC won the assembly seat with 49703 votes. In the following 2006 Assam Assembly Election, a candidate Mubarak Ali Pathan of AIUDF won the election with 44858 votes and became the MLA. In the following 2011 and 2016 Assam Assembly Election, a candidate Aminul Islam of AIUDF won the assembly seat with 72457 and 82786 votes respectively. In the assembly election of 2016, Aminul Islam of AIUDF emerged as a winner of the assembly seat by securing 47.78% of votes. Anwar Hussain of INC was the runner with 33.61% votes. There is a candidate from IND named Muzibur Rahman, who secured 10.28% votes in the third position. In the fourth, a BJP candidate (IND) named, Mukut Kumar Debnath secured 5.17% of votes only.
