Kaliabor, popularly known as the rice bowl of Assam, is a sub-division town in the Nagaon district, Assam. The official languages of Kaliabor are Bodo, Assamese, and Bengali. The mighty Brahmaputra is located to the North region of Kaliabor, while towards South, there is Karbi Anglong region, and towards the East, there is Golaghat region and Kaziranga National Parkand to the west, there is a place called Samaguri under Nagaon region. There are many schools and colleges in Kaliabor town and it forms a part of Kaliabor Lok Sabha Constituency.

In the 2016 Assembly Election, AGP candidate Keshab Mahanta won the MP seat, with 64759 votes and became MP, whereas INC candidate Bindu Ganju was the runner-up with 26769 votes. Therefore, he lost the MP seat by 37990 votes.
