BADARPUR is a town in the district of KARIMGANJ itself of the Indian State of Assam popularly known as Gateway to the Barak Valley. The district is surrounded by Barak River in the North, to the east is the Barail Hill Range and in the west are the villages and the paddy fields. The Badarpur Town Committee is the Governing Body with a population of 33,400 according to the 2011 census.

Ahmed had won three times from the Badarpur seat at first in 2001 with a ticket from Trinamool Congress and in 2011 and 2016 as a Congress candidate.
