Jamunamukh is a town and assembly constituency which is located in Hojai district in Assam state. As per the census report, Jamunamukh town has total 7377 people.

ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY NAME AND NUMBER

The legislative assembly comprises 126 members, who are directly elected and holds office for 5 years. Jamunamukh assembly constituency is one among the 126 constituencies and bears the number 90. It is a part of the Nowgong Lok Sabha constituency.

PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY

India has 542 parliamentary constituencies from which 441 seats are occupied by the general category, 84 seats are occupied by the ST category and 47 seats by SC category. Jamunamukh constituency falls under the Nowgong Lok Sabha constituency and there is no seat for the reserved category.


DISTRICT

Jamunamukh Assembly constituency comes under the newly formed Hojai district, which was formed in 2016 from 3 tehsils of Nagaon district. Hojai is out of 5 district which was newly formed in 2016. The district headquarter is situated at Sankardev Nagar with a distance of about 8 km from Hojai town. The district covers 1686 km square area. Assamese is the official language in Hojai. A large number of people in Hojai are dependent upon agriculture. The district also has small-Scale industries, such as Agar wood Distillation units, Saw Mills and Bamboo and Cane furniture's Manufacturing units.

ASSEMBLY STATUS

In the assembly election 2016, Jamunamukh constituency had 182822 voters and among them the voter turnout was 153989. In the election Abdur Rahim Ajmal who belonged to AIUDF party, emerged as the winner with 65599 votes and defeated the independent candidate named Rejaul Karim Chowdhury who secured 52195 votes.

The census report released in 2011, shows 7377 people in Jamunamukh from which 3742 are males and 3635 are females and the number of children from age 0 to 6 is 853 out of which 431 are boys and 422 are girls. The literate people in Jamunamukh are 5837 from which 3074 are male and the females are 2763 and the illiterate peoples are 1540 from which 668 are male and 872 are females.

People of different religions live together in the Jamunamukh. The religions are such as: Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Buddhist. The census report released in 2011 shows, the religion with highest population is Hindu religion with 3947 people which makes up 53% of overall people and from this 1955 are the male and 1992 are females. The Muslim religion is second highest religion with 3421 people which makes up 46.37% out of total people And from this 1783 are males and 1638 are females. Hindu and Muslim is the two religion with more people then the other religion in Jamunamukh and some peoples religion were not specified.

In Jamunamukh, the Schedule Cast people are 609 from which 306 are the males and 303 are females which makes up 8.3% out of total people. Schedule Tribes are 19 from which 8 are males and 11 are females which makes up only 0.3% out of total people.

RESULT OF LAST FIVE ELECTION

  1. In 1996 and 2001 election of Jamunamukh constituency Khalilur Rahman Chowdhury of the Assam Gana Parishad emerged as the winner in Jamunamukh election with 28,899 and 47,255 votes respectively.
  2. In 2006, Badruddin Ajmal of All India United Democratic Front party won the MLA seat by securing 53,040 votes and defeated Alhaj Khalilur Rahman Chowdhury of the Asom Gana Parishad who got 32,611 votes.
  3. In 2011, Mohammed Sirajuddin Ajmal of All India United Democratic Front Party emerged as the winner by securing 61,267 votes and he defeated Rejaul Karim Chowdhury of the Indian National Congress party.
  4. In 2016 Abdur Rahim Ajmal of All India United Democratic Front party won the election with 65,599 votes and defeated Rejaul Karim Choudhury, the independent candidate who secured 52,195 votes.

PERCENTAGE VOTE SHARE OF POLITICAL PARTY IN LAST ELECTION

In 2016 Assembly election of Assam, Abdur Rahim Ajmal of All India United Democratic Front Party won the election seat with 42.57%, the independent candidate Rejaul Karim Chowdhury become the runner up with 33.87%, Bashir Uddin Laskar of INC party secured 15.48%, Zia Uddin Ahmed of Asom Gana Parichad secured 3.07%, Nurul Hoque of JNCP secured 0.32%, Sunti Bora of Jai Maha Bharat Party secured 0.2% and the other independent candidates, Badar Uddin secured 1.27%, Abdul Wahid secured 0.59%, Jugal Bodo secured 0.52%, and Shamal Das, Sumitra Bora, Minaz Uddin, Basir Uddin and Kamal Uddin secured 0.49%, 0.42%, 0.17%, 0.15% and 0.13% respectively. 0.73% voter decided not to choose anyone from the parties and goes for other option that is NOTA.

WORK DONE IN LAST 5 YEARS BY THE CANDIDATE BIG TICKET SCHEMES/PROJECTS ANNOUNCED IN THE RUN UP TO THE ELECTIONS FOR THE CONSTITUENCIES

For Assam Assembly election 2021, different parties have laid out their manifestos to the public so that they can win 2021 election.

The BJP party had announced about involving publics opinion. So for that purpose they made decision that hundred vehicles with audio-visual presentation will tour Assam so that they get to konw about the needs of the public. And the people can also make a miss call to state their needs. The party already providing almost 8000 old namgarhs with 250000 rupees each, also promised to increase the benefits of other namgarh's as well. They have also provided land pattas to landless people.

Congress party's manifesto mentions the waiver of microfinance loans of all types for women to ease the difficulties of women of villages who are involved in taking loans from microfinance organization. The party also promised free electricity up to 120 units for the poor and middle-class people so that it becomes easy for them to pay the bill and they get relief from paying large amount of electricity bill every month

The party also ensured that a person of each family will have job so that no family should struggle and live in poverty, by adopting the policy of 'one family, one job'.

AGP party who has allied with BJP, has promised to find solutions regarding the problems of flood and improve the welfare of children, women and economically weaker people of society.

The AIUDF party promised to protect the security of the minorities and deal with the issues of illegal migrants.
