A Tehsil head quarter situated in the border of the Hailakandi District and Karimganj District. The pin code of the place is 788165 and the postal head office is Manipur Bagan.

Katlichera belong to the constituency number 7 of the 126 constituencies of the legislative assembly of Assam in India and is one of the 3 constituencies located in Hailakandi and is a part of Karimganj Lok Sabha Constituency along with 7 other assembly segments. Suzamuddin Laskar of All India United Democratic Front party won the Vidhan Sabha Election in 2016 with the maximum number of votes and the runner up was Gautam Roy of the INC party.

Karimganj Parliamentary constituency belonging to the state of Assam is made up of 8 assembly constituency segment which are Hailakandi (3), Karimganj (5) districts. Kripanath Mallah of BJP party in the Lok Sabha election of 2019 won with 471946 votes and the runner up was Radheshyam Biswas of AIUDF party. The number of votes with which BJP won the elections of 2019 are 37427 votes.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Kripanath Mallah won from Karimganj Lok Sabha (MP) seat defeating Radheshyam Biswas from All India Democratic Front with a vote share of 38389.
