It is tehsil headquarter located 19km towards west from District headquarters Mushalpur. The Baramapincode is 781346 and the postal head office is Barama. It is on the border of the Baksa District and Nalbari District.

ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY NAME AND NUMBER:

BaramaAssembly Constituency is one of the 126 assembly constituencies of the Assam Legislative Assembly and falls under Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Constituency.ManeswarBrahma is the MLA of the Barama Assembly Constituency of the BOPF party won the Vidhansabha election in 2016, with the maximum number of votes and the runner up was Rekha Rani DasBoro of IND1party. The number of assembly constituency of Barama is 62.

Parliamentary constituency:

KokrajharParliamentary constituency is one of the 14 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Assam state in north-eastern India. It consists of 10 assembly constituency segments in Bajali (1), Barpeta (1), Bijni (1), Gossaigaon (2), Kokrajhar (2), Nalbari (3) districts.

Naba Kumar Sarania of IND party in the Lok Sabha election of 2019 won with 482556 votes and the runner up wasPramila Rani Brahma of the BOPF party. The number of votes BOPF received in the elections of 2019 is 39146 votes. 

District:

It lies in the Baksa district of Assam and occupies an area of 2,400 km2 and with a population of 9.5 Lakhs(2011). It has 15 development blocks and 13 revenue circles. It has a total of 687 villages and 4 tea gardens. It has 11 BTC Constituencies. The Baksa district is inhabited by mainly Bodo-Kachari, Assamese, Sarania-Kachari, Koch-Rajbonshi, Adibashi(Tea Tribe), Nepali, Bengali and religious minorities.
