In the last three elections, i.e. 2014, 2016, 2019, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress are seen to be dominating political party gathering ample amounts of votes. INC comes in the second position, which got a comparatively lesser amount of votes than the BJP. In the 2016 Vidhansabha elections, Dipak Kumar Rabha of the Bharatiya Janata Party won with 79983 votes. The runner in the same election was Sibcharan Basumatary from the Indian National Congress party. The winning margin of Dipak Kumar Rabha of BJP was 28667 votes.

In the previous assembly elections, that is, the 2011 elections, Sibcharan Basumatary from Indian National Congress, won with 46890 votes. The runner up was Diganta Kumar Rabha from the Assam Gana Parishad party. The winning margin was 6017 votes. As seen from both the 2011 and 2016 assembly elections, there is a switch in the winning candidates. The winner of the former election came out as a loser in the last elections.

The 2019 Lok sabha elections had Queen Oja as the winner who represented Bharatiya Janata Party and won with 87082 votes, with a 52.23% share. Bobbeeta Sharma was the runner up who contested from the Indian National Congress and got 43.21% of the total percentage of votes. The lowest of all was Upamanyu Hazarika and Shankha Singha, both played independently, who got only 0.53% and 0.52% of the votes.

Percentage of the vote share of political parties in the last election

The percentage of the winning party, Bharatiya Janata Party, is 49.97%, and the runner up party that is INC, is 32.06%. Other losing parties AIUDF and IND got 7.06%, 4.55%, and 1.83%, respectively, as we can see that the wave of victory is weighted towards Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in both the Assembly elections and parliamentary elections of 2016 and 2019. Hence, it can be assumed that the coming assembly elections of 2021 might see the same parties as winners.

Candidates in the last election & result (winner and loser)

In the previous assembly election, the BJP candidate Dipak Kumar Rabha won with a total vote of 79983 with a 49.97% share. Sibcharan Basumatary from the INC lost the battle with a margin of 28667 votes. The least of them all is Kangkan Khaklary and Deben Daimary, who got 7278 and 2936 votes, respectively.

As observed through both the assembly and parliamentary election graph, the Bharatiya Janata Party is a dominating party in the said constituency. Therefore, in the coming elections, too, it can be predicted that BJP is in a favourable position and might win the 2021 assembly elections as well.
