12 Endangered Tockay Geckos Rescued in Nagaon, Two held

Nagaon: A special operation team under Nagaon Police under the aegis of the Nagaon Superintendent of Police, Sankarbrata Rai Medhi foiled an attempt of illegal animal traders to smuggle out at least 12 endangered Tockay Geckos in Uriyagaon Bypass under Nagaon district.

On Tuesday, the Special Operation Team (SOT) based on secret information launched an operation in the area and held two people in this connection.

The apprehended persons identified as Afazuddin and Bilal Hussain are the residents of Amoni in Rekhapahar area.

It may be mentioned that altogether 12 Tockay Geckos have been rescued from the spot.

Meanwhile, Nagaon police have contacted the wildlife department to safely relocate the rescued Tockay Geckos to their natural habitation.
