Anti depredation squads across 15 major Human Wildlife Conflict Districts launched by Assam Govt

Guwahati: Assam Government is launching anti depredation squads across 15 major human-wildlife conflict districts in order to mitigate the problem and to ensure the safety of both humans and wildlife.

Forest Department is engaging specially trained personnel - 50 frontline staff trained to handle conflict situations will be deputed for this purpose. 100 more staff will be trained in the coming days.

The anti depredation squad will be well equipped with all required logistics required for mitigating the conflict. Currently, 150 numbers of 12 Bore pump action guns and 15,000 rounds of rubber bullet ammunition will be at the disposal of the squads.

The Anti Depredation Squads will be formally launched by the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Shuklabadiya on 5th December 5:20 pm positively Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.
