Tinsukia: Assam police force tightens security in Sadia District bordering Arunachal Pradesh in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations.

A special commando team led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Prithiviraj Rajkhowa launched a major counter operation against outlawed faction ULFA(I). All the possible hideouts and entry routes of the militant organizations are being monitored, informed Addl SP Prithiviraj Rajkhowa.

In a video, Police commando teams were seen carrying out an operation drive in Tengapani, Bogoribari under Sadia sub-division in Tinsukia District since the last couple of days.

Also in Guwahati, security arrangements have been beefed up as well.

ADCP East Nabaneet Mahanta while speaking to media earlier told, “Taking extreme precautions against sudden insurgent attacks, thorough investigative operations are being carried out both at hills and plains to prevent any subversive activities. Search raids are being conducted even in certain residences to unearth any militant members in hiding. Security has been tightened at the border areas and a strict vigil has been kept at the exit and entry points. A special vigil has also been kept in the Meghalaya border due to suspicion regarding a certain group, who might try to cause an attack, as such we are in constant touch with neighbouring state Meghalaya.”

On the other hand, DCP Traffic Prasanta Saikia said, “There is a No Parking restriction on August 15 around the Veterinary College field, Khanapara on the occasion of Independence Day celebration. Red, blue and yellow passes will be allocated to vehicles which will be allowed to move up to Koinadhara point. From the said point, only the red and blue passes will be allowed to enter. General public without passes will have to enter through Administrative Staff College to Jayanagar point”.
