Assam Youth threatened Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Social Media, Arrested

Guwahati: A youth from Assam has been arrested by Goreswar police on October 23 after threatening to kill Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on social media.

As per reports, the accused identified as Manuruddin Rahman used a fake social media account in the name of Surajit Harsh posted on social media site a message threatening to kill the Chief Minister. He uploaded message mentioning that if he had a gun then he would have shoot CM Sonowal.

After a particularly offensive and dangerous seeming post surfaced yesterday, the Home department of the Assam Government was put on high alert.

The accused was arrested late in the evening on Wednesday at Baksa district of Assam.

Currently, he is now in the police custody and police is investigating the matter.

Moreover, after interrogating the youth, it was discovered that he works in the PCR department of private television channel ‘Assam Talks’.

Though he denies his involvement in making the threats on social media, they have enough prove of evidence against the man authorities mentioned.

Recently, Lintu Kishor Sarmah, a man hailing from Assam’s Nalbari had been arrested for threatening to kill Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 22.

He added that Himanta Biswa’s life is in his hands and if minister wants to stay alive, he should be given a job at the Nalbari Police Station. In the same post he also wrote that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon become the target of terrorists.

Is unemployment is the main cause of all this issues? It can be, by looking at the last post where the accused mentioned clearly that he need a job and Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma must provide him a job.
