CBI Team Recovers Data from Office of Directorate of Enforcement on Louis Berger Scam

Guwahati: The six-member CBI team led by Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Rajan visited the Directorate of Enforcement, Rajgarh and the Office of the Project Implementation Unit Guwahati Water Supply Project, Christian Basti on Saturday in connection with the multi-crore Louis Berger Scam.

Speaking to The Sentinel, RTI Activist and Swaraj Asom Convener, Bhaben Handique said that the CBI team interrogated the former GMDA CEO, Pritam Saikia for nearly 5 hours and also recovered several documents from GMDA today.

The team had also interrogated the GMDA officials for the seven missing files.

In the second operation, the CBI team had visited the Office of the Project Implementation Unit Guwahati Water Supply Project at Christian Basti and interrogated Project Director Amit Sahayek.

Furthermore, the team had also recovered information and data regarding the Louis Berger scam from the office of Directorate of Enforcement in Guwahati’s Rajgarh area.

It is to be noted that this is the second visit of a CBI team in the State to investigate into the scam. CBI team had earlier visited Assam on October 12, 2017, and took statements of the petitioners (who filed a case in Dispur PS) including a Government official, who filed a case with the CID regarding the scam.
