Hima Das bags 200m Gold at Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland

Indian running sensation Hima Das has clinched another glory for her nation. Competing in women’s 200m at Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, the sprinter has bagged the gold. Another Indian player shot putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor has been able to win bronze in the competition currently being held in Poland.

Assam girl Hima, being the world junior champion and national record holder in 400m has been on rest for quite some time due to her back injury. Although this interval from sports had made some criticize the athlete and question her form for the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, she has shut them all with her outstanding performance once again.

Hima defeated her opponents with a record of running the 200m track in just 23.65s. Notably, this is the first competition contested by the athlete after her back injury interval. However, her personal best record in 200m is 23.10s, which she clocked last year.

Hima was also accompanied by another Indian racer on the track. She is V K Vismaya who finished third in the race with a personal best time of 23.75s.

Among other Indians shining with outstanding performances in the event are Asian champion Toor. Toor won men’s shot put with a bronze that he secured with a record of 19.62m. Previously, Toor had made a national record while winning Asian Games gold last year at 20.75m.

Another Indian, Muhammed Anas, in men’s category of 200m race, secured the third spot with a timing of 20.75 seconds. The 400m men’s race bronze has also been secured by Indian athlete K S Jeevan with a timing of 47.25s.

Whatever was said and criticized about the star sprinter of India, Hima das with this stunning comeback, has clearly signaled it at her critics that she is here to rule again and one can hardly combat her.
