In a sudden incident of a plane crash, an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG 27 crashed Tuesday near Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The pilot is reported to be safe.
Such unexpected plane crashes seems to be not new in the Air Force MiG as in another incident in June this year, a MiG-27 upgrade aircraft which was on a routine mission, crashed in the residential area in Jodhpur. In that crash as well, the pilot, Flying Officer Kandpal could escape the crash safely before the plane crashes seconds later. The crash collapsed with two houses and a vehicle parked nearby that suffered major damages. The pilot, although ejected safely and on time from the crashing place, also had a narrow brush with death as he was to hit an electric transformer in the local Bhaironath temple.
Then last November, another IAF MiG 27 fighter plane’s tyre burst while landing and that too happened in the runway at Jodhpur airport.
A source, stating the incident of the November plane’s tyre burst, said, “The incident involves a MiG-27. While landing, the aircrafts tyre burst and there was some problem with its landing gear. As a result, the plane’s nozzle hit the ground. It is taking longer than expected to remove the aircraft from the runway.”
Before that, in January 2015 as well, a MiG-27 fighter jet that was on a routine flight from the Jodhpur air base to Uttarlai, crashed as a fraction of it fell on a passing motorcyclist. In that case, as well, the pilot ejected the plane safely.
