After lashing the northern Philippines with strong winds, the Typhoon Mangkhut pounded southern China on Sunday with speedy winds and heavy rain. The destructions caused in the Philippines have already put the typhoon-prone areas in China under strict warning.

Due to the typhoon forecast in Southern China, more than 2.4 million people were evacuated in southern China's Guangdong province in order to keep lives safe during the typhoon hit. Nearly 50,000 fishing boats too were called back to port fearing these to be ruined by the forthcoming typhoon.

Seeing the wrath of the Typhoon Mangkhut, Macau too has closed down its casinos. As per Hong Kong's RTHK broadcaster, the Typhoon Mangkhut is the strongest typhoon to hit the city in decades and the city is on strongest storm warning for 10 hours on Sunday. Notably, a storm warning of 11 hours was being set fearing the arrival of Typhoon York years ago in 1999.
