Hailakandi: As part of Poshan Maah, an awareness program was held at ICDS Project here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli took the lead in preparing nutritious food for pregnant women and adolescent children along with mothers and Anganwadi workers of the Hailakandi ICDS Project.
Jalli urged the mothers and Anganwadi workers to feed the children with nutritious food to make them healthy. She said that the month-long Poshan Abhiyan is being observed to create awareness on the need of nutritious food to reduce stunting among children and to ensure their full blossoming, both mentally and physically.
Interacting with the mothers and Anganwadi workers, Jalli urged them to ensure that children partake nutritious food rather than fast food that does more harm than good. Jalli interacted with the mothers and Anganwadi workers and to take active part in the Poshan Abhiyan for ushering in a healthy and prosperous nation. The Poshan Maah is being observed in all the ICDS and Anganwadi centres across the district beginning September 1. It will culminate on September 30.
Poshan Abhiyan, a mission launched by the Government of India on March 8, 2018, to tackle malnutrition among children between the age group of 0-6 years. The target is to reduce stunting among children from 38.4 per cent to 25 per cent by 2022. The programme is also expected to ensure service delivery and interventions by use of technology, behavioural change through convergence and lays-down specific targets to be achieved across different monitoring parameters.
