Silchar: “If Congress comes to power, it will be catastrophic for Bengali Hindus as their fate will lurk in the dark. They will try to abolish the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Their standpoint on regarding the Bill is also not clear. They are saying that if voted to power, they will cancel the Bill and will not let the Bill to pass. Also if the sitting Congress MP Sushmita Dev again comes to power, the consequence will not be good at all,” said veteran BJP leader and former union minister Kabindra Purkayastha at a press-meet held at the party office Thursday evening.

Kabindra Purkayastha further said that Dr Rajdeep Roy who is contesting for BJP MP seat is working hard day and night by conducting and attending two to three meetings daily, making and building contacts with voters and making sure that no GP is left out. “He has been very actively playing his part well from the last week of March itself. Opposition parties are busy in petty politics. Mud-slinging politics is not at all an healthy sign of a good democracy. Opposition parties should abstain from it. BJP’s stand on the Bill has always been clear. Congress is not sure,” he added to say.
