Hailakandi: A day-long Awareness cum Workshop on Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for Self Help Groups was conducted in Hailakandi.
The event was inaugurated by DC Adil Khan in presence of several dignitaries and officials on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Khan expressed the hope that the programme would benefit the SHGs immensely and would go a long way in impacting socio-economic development of the district.
Organised by the City Mission Management Unit and DAY-NULM, scores of SHGs mostly women from different parts of the district participated in the awareness cum workshop. The workshop imparted the necessary skills required to the SHG members to expand their existing enterprises and how to start a new enterprise.
It focused on financial assistance to SHGs for setting up gainful self employment enterprises suited to their skills, training, aptitude and local conditions. It also focused on technology, marketing and other support services to the SHGs engaged in micro-enterprises for sustaining their livelihoods. The resource persons apprised the members of SHGs of urban poor how to access easy credit available to them from banks and availing interest subsidy on loans. The EDP covered basics of entrepreneurship development such as management of an enterprise, basic accounting, financial management, marketing, backward and forward linkages, legal procedures, costing and revenue etc.
