GUWAHATI: In the last two months of January and February, 1062 crimes against women have been recorded in the state, which include 418 kidnapping cases, 155 rape cases, 204 molestation cases, 241 cruelty by husband cases and 23 dowry cases. In 2022, the recorded crimes against women were 12,044 and in 2021, it was 29,046.
In 2022, 3122 kidnapping cases, 1170 rape cases, 1720 molestation cases, 4577 cruelty by husband cases, 130 dowry cases and 23 IT(P) Act cases were found in the state. According to sources, the women belonging to 11-30 age group have fallen victims of such cases. In the last 5 years, among 964 trafficking cases, 963 were registered for legal action.
