14 IIT Guwahati students selected for PM's Research Fellows scheme

The PhD scholars are pursuing research in interdisciplinary and forefront areas at the various departments of the institute.

Guwahati: Good news for Assam as fourteen students from IIT Guwahati has been selected for the Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) scheme. A statement by IIT Guwahati said that the selected students are pursuing research in interdisciplinary and forefront areas at the various departments of the institute.

Professor G Sitharam, Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati said, "This initiative by the Centre will attract the best talent from the country for pursuing high-end research at IIT Guwahati." He further added that it will help them in realising the vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's multidisciplinary technology development and self-sustenance (Atmanirbhar) through innovation.

The faculty and the institution will help the students to achieve their long-term career goals by making them realise their full potential. This will also help them contribute to the growth of the country.

Announced in the 2018-19 Union budget, PMRF scheme is designed to improve the quality of research in various higher educational institutions of the country.
