GUWAHATI: The 159th birth anniversary of Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah was observed across the state on Saturday. With this, various organizations and groups initiated various programmes on his birth anniversary. As per the Education Department’s directives, all schools in the state sang the state anthem ‘O Mur Aponer Desh’ during the morning assembly on the occasion of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah’s birth anniversary.
The birth anniversary was observed in Lakshminath Bezbaruah Chowk, which was organized by Lakshminath Bezbaruah Smriti Roikhya Samiti on Friday. The Samiti paid floral tribute and homage to the statue of Lakshminath Bezbaruah. The students from different schools sang the state anthem. On the occasion of his 159th anniversary, 159 earthen lamps were lit.
Lakshminath Bezbaruah’s birth anniversary has been observed in Sambalpur, Odissa.
According to Lakshminath Bezbaruah Smriti Roikhya Samiti, they said, “Today on the occasion of Mahalaya, people gathered to the ghats of Mahanadi for Tarpan to their ancestors. On such a pious day, the Jayanti of Sahityarathi was celebrated in front of Sadhana Griha with the garlanding of the Bezbaruah portrait. Arabinda Mohapatra, an educationist, joined as chief guest and Sashibhusan Tripathi as honourable guest. Dipak Kumar Panda presided over the meeting. They hoped that if Bezbaruah chairs were established at G.M. University, then people in Odisha would be well aware of Bezbaruah literature.”
