20 more Containment Zones added in Guwahati. Here is the complete list

Guwahati: With the Covid-19 cases continuing to skyrocket in the Kamrup (M) area district of Assam, 20 more areas have been declared as Containment Zones by the administration on Monday to contain the spread of the dreaded contagion. Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu directed the circle officer, Guwahati revenue circle to seal the areas with immediate effect.

The areas that were marked as containment zones on Monday by the district administration are as follows:

Santi Nagar

Eta Bhata, Dhirenpara

Sankar Nagar, Odal Bakra

Bamunpara, Damodarnagar, Betkuchi, Guwahati

Dhirenpara-III

Colony Bazar, Kahilipara

AK Azad Road, Rehabari, Guwahati

K.C. Sen Road, Paltanbazar

Ashram Road, Ulubari

Deben Sarma Road, Bishnupur

Athgaon-IV, Guwahati

Gopinath Nagar, Birubari

Gopinath Nagar, Birubari-II

Ferry Ghat Colony, Pandu

Bishnupur-III

Maligaon Rest Camp, Pandu

Bimala Nagar, Bishnupur

These orders have been made under the regulations "The Assam Covid-19 Regulations, 2020", "The Disaster Management Act-2005", "The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897", and other relevant laws of the nation. Any violation of this rule will now attract punishment under relevant sections of the law. Meanwhile, out of the 109 areas that have been declared as containment zones by the district administration up until now, 80 are still active.

At the same time, the Health Department has launched the Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP) from June 17 onwards. Under this program, more than 50,000 random testings will be conducted within a week, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. The program, which will be carried out all the 33 districts of the state, will aim to screen persons in certain categories who have been deemed as extra volatile and likely carriers of the respiratory illness.

In every district, the Deputy Commissioners have been tasked with preparing a micro-plan for the screening and testing in consultation with the concerned Superintendent of Police, heads of offices hotel associations, and submit the same to the Mission Director of the National Health Mission in Assam by June 16.
