GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metro) Circle of the State Excise department has logged 210 cases against illegal liquor in the district and also arrested 31 persons in this regard during July 2021.
Providing the details, top sources of the Department said, "Altogether we carried out 56 raids. During these operations, we caught 31 persons red-handed."
The sources added that the Department also realised Rs 1,22,500 as fine for having liquor in public places from 41 persons in the district.
The Excise Department also seized 9,065 litres of country-made liquor (sulai); 59.69 litres of IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor); and 70.20 litres of beer during last month. During the raids, the Excise personnel destroyed 55,120 kg of fermented wash; and also seized 92 items used for the distillation process of liquor.
