Guwahati: A proud moment for Assam as around 22 faculty members/researchers of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati have been featured among the 'World 2% of Scientists List,' which is created by Stanford University.
The report was published on October 16 in the journal PLOS Biology. The report has listed over 100,000 scientists, whose published work has accelerated progress in their respective fields all over the world, as well as influenced the productivity of other's work.
Led by the director of IITG, Prof. TG Sitharam, the faculty member and researchers have been ranked for their research publication citation for the year 2019. They were also ranked for their lifetime contribution to their field of research.
The list of researchers or scientist was prepared by Prof. John PA Loannidis of the Stanford University, USA and his team.
The featured faculty members and researchers from IITG are from different fields of science, such as the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemistry and so on.
Speaking about the contributions made by the faculty members of IITG, Prof. Sitharam said that this achievement of the institution has placed itself in the global map of science and had brought great pride to the institute. He congratulated all the 22 faculty members for their hard work and commitment to furthering science.
