GUWAHATI: Around 1,00,657 people of 24 revenue villages under three revenue circles have been affected by the current wave of floods in Kamrup (M) district. The Brahmaputra is still flowing above the danger level in Guwahati. The three revenue circles facing the flood fury in the district are Sonapur, Chandrapur and Dispur. Around 90,000 people of 16 villages in Sonapur Revenue Circle, 8960 of five villages in Chandrapur Revenue Circle and 1,697 people of three villages in Dispur Revenue Circle have been affected. This apart, 168.35 hectare crop area has been affected in five villages under Azara Revenue Circle in the district. On the front of livestock 13,000 big and 12,000 small animals have also been affected by flood waters in the district.

According to Guwahati Water Resource Division's flood bulletin, Barnadi and BahiniNadi have been maintaining a rising trend. The water level of the Barnadi is 51.66 meteres at NT Road Crossing at Dumunichowki and the Bahini is flowing at 49.02 metres at Jonali Bridge. The water level of the Kallong, on the other hand, has been receding.
