GUWAHATI: Altogether 30,000 registered workers engaged in building and other construction sectors would be given aid under different schemes by the State Government on February 11 at a state-level distribution function at Guwahati.
It was decided at a review meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of Assam Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board at his conference room at Janata Bhawan today.
Notably, the aid would be distributed under schemes for death of registered labourers, medical assistance, one time education grant, general pension, family pension, loan for buying tools and equipment, assistance during pregnancy etc.
Directing to ensure that the aid reaches the workers within stipulated time, Sonowal instructed the Labour Department to make sure the registration of labourers engaged in private sector. He also directed for starting an online registration process for the same.
The Chief Minister also called for increasing the skills of labourers engaged in the construction sector while issuing direction for ensuring the aid reach the workers in all districts of the State. He said that no irregularity would be accepted in this regard.
