GUWAHATI: As many as 3,231 fire incidents took place in Assam from January 1 to November 30, 2022, leading to the death of 16 people, besides property damage.
According to Fire and Emergency Services, Assam, fire incidents occurred more in 2022 than in 2021. As many as 3128 fire incidents took place in 2021, leading to the death of 22 people. However, the death toll from fire incidents in 2022, according to the department, is less than that in 2021. However, over one month of 2022 is still to go.
According to the official records, over 500 fire incidents took place in Guwahati alone in 2022, leading to the loss of property worth Rs 17 crore against the loss of property worth Rs 130 crore in the entire state this year.
