5th North East Public Relations Conclave held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Guwahati Chapter, organized the 5th North East Public Relations Conclave on the theme 'PR in Action during Disaster times' here recently, stated a press release.

The programme was graced by Assam's Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua as the Chief Guest. PVSLN Murty, CMD of NEDFi, and Utpalparna Hazarika, Principal Chief Operations Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) were the Guests of Honour.

The PRSI Guwahati Chapter's journal, 'Seven Sisters' was released by the distinguished guests.

The programme began with tributes paid to PRSI members late Aiyushman Dutta, young journalist and founder of the Guwahati International Music Festival (GIMF) and late Sananta Tanty, Sahitya Akademi Award-winning poet who lost their lives in the last year due to COVID 19 and other ailments.

Speaking on the occasion on this year's theme, Jishnu Barua said, "PR professionals should be honest in disseminating authentic information. This holds greater importance during crisis situations that we are passing through."

Addressing the PR fraternity of various organisations, Utpalparna Hazarika emphasized the importance of credibility and honesty for a PR professional in discharging their duties.

Calling out the PR personnel, PVSLN Murty asserted, "PR department is the third eye of an organisation. It plays the role that was played by Sanjay for Dhritarashtra in the Mahabharata."

Earlier, the Welcome Address was delivered by Madhuchanda Adhikari, Chairperson of PRSI, Guwahati Chapter who deliberated on the theme 'PR in Action during Disaster times' and shared the objectives of the Conclave.

The inaugural session was followed by two enriching technical sessions and a valedictory session. The first session was on the theme 'Disaster Management in Health Sector through PR' with Lakshmanan S, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam
