DC directed to complete the Aadhaar-enrollment exercise by August 31, 2021 "without fail"

GUWAHATI: As many as 63.23% of the "projected" 3,56,07, 039 population in the State till 2020, have been provided Aadhaar by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) up to June 2021. Meanwhile, the State government has instructed all the DCs (Deputy Commissioners) to complete the Aadhaar-enrollment exercise by August 31, 2021 "without fail".
This information was provided by GAD (General Administration Department) Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass in reply to a question by AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) legislator Phani Bhusan Choudhury on the second day of the Budget session on Tuesday.
Minister Dass added in the statistics provided in the House that altogether 2,25,14,236 persons got Aadhaar against the projected population of 3,56,07,039 across the State in 2020.
On the other hand, till June 2021, Aadhaar is yet to be generated against 1,30,92,803 people, which is 37% of the total projected population of Assam.
Meanwhile, Chirang district in BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) has topped the list with Aadhaar generated for 89.31% of the projected 5,50,170 population. On the other hand, the lowest performer is the Tinsukia district with only 39.27% getting Aadhaar. The projected population in the district is 15,15,230.
In Kamrup (Metro) district, Aadhaar has been generated 62.28% of the projected 14,30,803 population. According to GAD Minister Dass, there are 1,241 Aadhaar Enrolment Centres in Assam as of date.
