GUWAHATI: Amidst much controversy in the run-up to the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation in the State, Guwahati successfully hosted the 65th Filmfare Award. The event was held outside Mumbai for the first time, and that made Guwahati a ‘Mayanagari’ at least for a night.

Many of the reputed actors visited Kamakhya Temple today. They included Karan Jahor, Varun Dhawan, Thanglan Souban, Nikita Jaisinghani, Zena Kotyal, Amol More, Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurana and others.

While noted actor Akshay Kumar arrived in the city late last night and went straight to Sarusajai for rehearsal; Usha Uttap, Alia Bhatt, Manish Malhotra, Radhika Apte, Pooja Hegde, Urbhashi Rautela and Ananya Pandey arrived in the city today. Govinda with his family and many others are in also in the city.

Since most of the film stars will leave Guwahati only in the Sunday evening, many of them will visit Kamakhya tomorrow as well.

While writing this report, the programme was underway.
