GUWAHATI: Personnel of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Khetri Police Station seized a total of 77 cattle which were ferried illegally on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to police sources, in today's incident the Khetri police intercepted two trucks (AS01HC1696 and NL01AC6788) on NH-37 on Wednesday and seized 44 cattle which were being illegally transported from Nagaon and Golaghat. Two persons - Atabur Rahman of Samuguri and Md Ali of Jogighopa were arrested in this connection.
In an earlier incident, the Khetri police intercepted another truck (NL01K1806) at Tetelia on Tuesday and seized 33 cattle brought from Golaghat. One Babu Karmakar of Borholla was arrested in this connection.
