AABYSF demand release of Hindu Bengalis from detention camps across Assam

The All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation (AABYSF) demanded the release of Bengali Hindus from the detention camps across Assam and to ascertain the citizenship status of Hindu Bengalis residing in Assam.

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Bengali Youth Students' Federation (AABYSF) demanded the release of Bengali Hindus from the detention camps across Assam and to ascertain the citizenship status of Hindu Bengalis residing in Assam.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, the AABYSF demanded of the State BJP to field Hindu Bengali candidates in 15 Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) in the Brahmaputra Valley. The Legislative Assembly Constituencies which AABYSF wants to contest with BJP tickets include Hojai, Jagiroad, Bijni, Dibrugarh, Tinisukia, Boko, Tamulpur and Dhekiajuli. AABYSF president Ajoy Bhushan Sarkar said, "99% votes of Hindu Bengali community go to the BJP. So, if their demands were not fulfilled before the election, they will boycott the election."
