GUWAHATI: The members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Assam wrote to the Director General of Police demanding stern action and apprehension of Samudra Rai, who is an accused of the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Bordubi of Tinsukia on 20/03/2023. He was also accused of harassing and compelling the mother of the victim to commit suicide on 14/04/2023.

They also mentioned that although Bordubi P.S. Case No. 434/2023 G.R. Case No. 31/2023 was registered against the perpetrator, he was not arrested to date and he remains roaming free. They also raised questions as to why the Bordubi Police have not registered a case under the Nirbhaya Act (Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013) or POCSO Act. They also mentioned that no action has been taken by District Social Welfare Officer to safeguard the two or ensure that no further harm is done to the children.
