GUWAHATI: The AASU (All Assam Students' Union) reacted to the Assam Government sending a proposal to the Central Government for the delimitation of the Assembly constituencies of the state and said that the government should hold a discussion with the student body on the modalities of constituency delimitation.
In a statement issued to the media today, AASU's acting president Utpal Sarma and general secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah said that delimitation of constituencies in the state was one of the recommendations of the High Power Committee led by Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma and constituted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for Constitutional safeguards to the indigenous people of Assam. "Let the Government implement all recommendations of the high-level committee, including the delimitation of constituencies," the statement said.
