GUWAHATI: The Gauhati University (GU) unit of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has appealed to the varsity authorities not to mental harass the students.

In a release, AASU GU unit president Juhi Bayan and acting general secretary Jyoti Bikash Nath alleged that amid the pandemic, the authorities are mentally harassing the students.

"Most of the universities of Assam have postponed their exams. However, the GU's is yet to make its stand clear regarding the conduct of examinations. It has issued a notice that alternative methods are being explored to conduct the examinations. Many PG (Post Graduate) departments have only a few days left for their examinations. But the GU authorities are busy in discussions. The students are facing an uncertain situation," said the AASU GU unit president.

The AASU GU unit acting general secretary stressed that it is not safe to conduct offline examinations.

"Both the academic year and health of the students should be secured," he added.
