GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union has demanded the State government to cancel the e-auction of Nagaon & Cachar Paper Mills. The students' body underlined that the government should take immediate steps for the revival of both the paper mills.

In a statement, AASU president Dipanko Kumar Nath and general secretary Sankar Jyoti Baruah said, "The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has been promising to revive the mills in every election campaign held from 2014-21. It also promised the same in its elections manifestos. However, it is unfortunate that the HPC Paper Mills are now being auctioned."

Baruah said that the government should make its stand clear publicly on the HPC (Hindustan Paper Corporation) Mills' crisis.
