GUWAHATI: AASU (All Assam Students' Union) president Dipanko Kumar Nath has demanded the State government to announce a compensation package for the farmers of the State.
Nath said, "During the COVID-19 lockdown all sections of people suffer, but the farmers suffer the worst since the State Agriculture department has failed to provide them any market to sell their produces. Many farmers had to let their vegetables and other crops being damaged in the fields. Against such a backdrop the State government should announce a compensation package for the farmers."
Around 75 per cent people in the State are farmers.
