Accused Debjani Das taken for scene recreation by Gorchuk Police

GUWAHATI: Gorchuk Police on Monday took Debjani Das, the accused in the Boragaon murder case, to the crime site for recreation of the crime scene in the presence of a magistrate.

A woman's body parts were found wrapped in plastic bags recently in the residence of Debjani Das. The victim was Antima Gupta, wife of Santosh Gupta. The married couple was residing in a rented apartment in Boragaon. Debjani was arrested by Gorchuk Police and during interrogation, she confessed to bludgeoning Antima to death following a fight over Santosh Gupta. Debjani was remanded to three days of police custody. As the period of police custody got over on Monday, police will now submit all evidence gathered so far in the court on Tuesday. Officer in-charge of Gorchuk PS, Satyendra Singh Hazari told media persons, "Our investigation so far reveals that only Debjani had committed the murder. We have not found any proof of the involvement of a second person. Also, we have not found any evidence of an extra-marital affair between Debjani Das and Antima's husband Santosh Gupta."
