Adani Group Signs 50 Yrs Concession Agreement with AAI for Guwahati Airport

The Adani group won a bidding deal of 50 years for privatising Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati airports.

GUWAHATI: Billionaire Gautam Adani-led Adani Group has signed the concession agreement with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for operating and developing the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati.

The company along with the Guwahati Airport has also acquired the rights of operating and developing the airports of Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram for a period of 50 years from the commercial operation date.

Meanwhile, on its official Twitter handle, the Adani Group wrote, "Expanding the footprint of our #GatewayToGoodness, we are happy to sign a Concession Agreement with @AAI_Official for operations, management and development of Jaipur, Guwahati, & Thiruvananthapuram airports. Here's to better travel experiences!."

It is to be mentioned here that post this, the concessionaire of Guwahati airport shall pay AAI a per passenger fee of Rs 160 for domestic passengers and Rs 320 for international passengers. While the concessionaires for Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram airports will pay AAI per passenger fee of Rs 174 and Rs 168 respectively for domestic passengers and Rs 348 and Rs 336 for international passengers.

However, the per-passenger domestic fee will be revised annually taking into account the variation in the CPI (IW).

The concession fee received by AAI after leasing out the airports will be used for the maintenance and development of other brownfield airports and also for further development of Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) and Greenfield airports throughout the country.

Further, the Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu took stock on the ongoing project of the Itanagar Greenfield Airport and said, "The Itanagar Greenfield Airport construction of runway work is in full pace and a joint inspection of the progress was being done by Union Secretary, Civil Aviation & Chief Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh."

The project has been undertaken by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for the work of constructing a Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, 15 Kms from Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh with an estimated cost of Rs.650 crore.
